Resilient Islands is an initiative to help Caribbean islands cope with the impacts of climate change by promoting the protection of coastal habitats to reduce risks, and by providing communities and governments with the tools to implement sustainable development plans that prioritize nature. The Nature Conservancy and the
International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) work with communities and governments to design innovative decision tools, train local leaders, integrate ecosystem based adaptation strategies into national policies and implement demonstration projects in vulnerable coastal areas.
The project team will work with the Ministry of Agriculture, Lands, Forestry, Fisheries, and Environment to help realize various aspects of the Strategic Plan’s integrated approaches for EBA while complementing on-going initiatives through the provision of additional training and capacity building of relevant personnel, and the implementation of tailored ecosystem-based adaptation solutions (EBA).
The team will work in at least two new communities that have previously been identified as highly vulnerable and in need of adaptation action to implement a set of
EBA solutions

1. Climate-smart fisher facility in the village of Soubise.
2. Community-based water quality remediation project in Grenville Bay

Project partner the Grenada Fund for Conservation will also gain the tools and build their capacity to become ambassadors and implementers of EbA actions within the country.
